NORTH WESTERN FEDERATION OF HARD OF HEARING CLUBS

The Annual Competitions

Each year most clubs in the region organise a lip reading competition and also a clear speech competition amongst their members.

Local winners go forward to the Federation's Regional Competition, held around Easter each year.
This year the competition is being held in Blackburn on April 27th 2002.
There is a lip reading competition and separate clear speech competitions for the Hard of Hearing and the Totally Deafened.
Regional winners hold a trophy for a year.
They also go forward to a National Competition, organised by Hearing Concern in the autumn

The Annual Rally

The Main Social Event: the format is decided by the host club, but always includes a communal tea, evening entertainment and often dancing

National Day

A Service of Thanksgiving: held each year in the Autumn

AGM

Held in March, and at a different venue each year, the Federation AGM is always well attended.

After the short formal AGM, at which two representatives from each affiliated Club speak and vote, there is a general discussion session for all members to air their views.

The AGM is followed by tea and a Social.

In 2002 the AGM is being held in Oldham on March 23rd.
